Where Amberscript is stronger
- Human work. Amberscript also has transcripts made by people, over 99% accurate, from €1.85 per minute. Murmel has no human transcription. For a record that must be flawless without your own correction, that is a real difference.
- Broadcast subtitles. Human subtitles from €4.40 per minute and export to EBU-STL, the format broadcasters use. Murmel delivers SRT and VTT.
- Languages. Over 90 languages versus Dutch and English at Murmel.
- Large organisations. SSO on enterprise and integrations with Kaltura and Opencast among others, useful for educational institutions with a video platform.
- Zoom meetings. The separate Amber Notes service has a bot for Zoom, Teams and Meet. The Murmel note taker works with Teams and Meet, not Zoom.
Where Murmel is different
Murmel does one thing: turning Dutch speech into text. The model, murmel-flash, is an architecture of its own trained from scratch on Dutch speech, with English as a second language. On four open Dutch benchmarks the largest model makes the fewest errors of the seven models tested (the measurement). Amberscript was not part of that test, so which of the two is more accurate on your recordings is something you only learn by trying.
- In the Netherlands, not just in Europe. Audio, transcripts, account and payments are processed and stored in the Netherlands (Scaleway, Leafcloud in Amsterdam, Mollie).
- Note taker in the plan. Paste a Teams or Meet link and the note taker joins. No second service needed.
- Single hours without a subscription. €1.45 per hour incl. VAT with credits, versus €10 per hour one-time at Amberscript.
- You decide how long data stays. Keep until you delete it, or delete automatically after one day up to a year. At Amberscript it is a fixed 6 months.
- Fast. An hour of audio is usually done in under a minute.
What it costs: two examples
10 hours a month, for example weekly team meetings
At Amberscript that fits Pro: €29 a month for 10 hours. At Murmel it fits Basic: €10.89 incl. VAT a month for 12 hours, leaving 2 hours to spare. With annual billing Murmel gives 20% off; Amberscript offers Pro annually for €290 (120 hours).
One interview of one hour
A one-time machine transcription costs €10 at Amberscript. At Murmel you buy at least €6.05 in credits; that covers over four hours, and the rest stays valid for six months. Having the interview typed out by a person costs from €111 at Amberscript (60 minutes times €1.85). How to review an interview quickly yourself is explained in transcribe interviews.
Switching from Amberscript

How this comparison was made
This page was written by Murmel itself, not by an independent party. Murmel has no affiliation with Amberscript. On 22 October 2026 these public pages were checked: the Amberscript pricing page and privacy policy and the Amber Notes site (ambernotes.eu). Only what they state has been used. Prices and features change, so always check the Amberscript website itself before you decide. Murmel has not measured the accuracy of Amberscript, so this page makes no claim about it. How Murmel itself is measured is described in the benchmark methodology. Spotted a mistake or an outdated price? Let us know via contact and it will be corrected.
Frequently asked questions
Is Murmel more accurate than Amberscript?
That has not been measured. Murmel was tested on open Dutch benchmarks against open-source models (results), not against Amberscript. Try your own recording: €6.05 in credits gives you over four hours.
Can I have a transcript made by a person at Murmel?
No. Murmel is software only. You correct in the editor yourself, with the audio next to the text. If you want human work, look at Amberscript or a transcription agency.
Can I bring my Amberscript transcripts to Murmel?
No, Murmel does not import transcripts from other services. You can upload the original audio and have it transcribed again.
