Murmel works on a subscription basis. New accounts get 50% off their first month, on any plan. Basic, for example, costs €5.45 instead of €10.89 incl. VAT for the first month. The discount is applied automatically at checkout; after that the regular monthly rate applies. You can cancel at any time, including during the first month.

Murmel is trained specifically for the Dutch language, outperforming generic models-even with heavy accents or professional jargon.

Murmel is 100% hosted in the Netherlands. All processing occurs on Dutch servers, and we exclusively work with European partners. Using our API, you can utilize the 'in-transit' or 'do-not-save' feature, ensuring both audio and transcription are immediately destroyed. In the Studio environment, all data is automatically deleted after 7 days by default, or instantly when you delete it yourself. Furthermore, transcriptions are never used for AI training unless you give explicit permission (for example, to improve a custom model).

You can upload most standard audio and video formats, including MP3, WAV, MP4, M4A, WEBM, FLAC and OGG.

There is no limit on file duration. Recordings longer than 3 hours are automatically split into parts after upload and processed in full: you get a transcript per part and one email once everything is done. Each upload can be up to 12 hours and 2 GB (1 GB on Basic). Credit usage equals the total duration of the recording.

Yes. Open Meetings in the app and paste your Google Meet or Microsoft Teams link. Murmel joins as a participant, records the conversation, and delivers the transcript in the Studio afterwards. You can have the notetaker join right away or schedule it for a date and time. This feature is new and still in beta.

A participant called "Murmel.nl transcriptie" appears in the list. Admit it from the lobby and recording starts, so everyone can see that recording is happening. You can end the recording yourself at any time with a single button and the transcript is kept. If nobody admits the notetaker, nothing is recorded and you will see that in the overview.

Extremely fast. Our optimized GPU infrastructure processes audio at 35x realtime speed. A one-hour recording is fully and accurately transcribed in less than 2 minutes.

Highly sustainable. We use Leafcloud's green GPU infrastructure in Amsterdam. Since these servers are housed in apartment complexes, the residual heat from running our AI models directly warms shower water and buildings, actively reducing natural gas usage.

One credit equals one minute of transcription. There are two types: (1) subscription credits that come with your monthly plan and reset each month, and (2) prepaid wallet credits that are valid for 6 months from the purchase date. When you upload audio, credits are deducted based on the file's duration.

Your subscription credits reset each month on the first day of your billing cycle; unused subscription credits do not roll over. Prepaid wallet credits work differently: they remain valid for 6 months from the purchase date and carry over until you use them up or they expire.

Upon upgrading, you immediately pay the prorated difference for the remainder of your current period and receive the higher monthly credits right away. Upon downgrading, your plan changes at the next billing cycle - you keep your current plan until the end of the current month. If you cancel, you retain access until the end of your current billing period. Prepaid wallet credits are always valid for 6 months and are not affected by subscription changes - they remain usable even after cancellation.

Yes, you can cancel at any time without a notice period, including during your discounted first month. You keep access and your subscription credits until the end of your current billing cycle. Any prepaid wallet credits remain valid for the full 6 months.

You can see your subscription usage on the Studio page above the history and on your profile page under "Usage". Your prepaid wallet credits appear as a separate tile on both the profile and developer pages, including the expiry date.

We accept iDEAL, credit cards (Visa, Mastercard), Bancontact, and SEPA direct debit. All payments are processed securely. All prices are excluding 21% VAT; VAT is added at checkout.

If you have prepaid wallet credits, they are automatically used once your monthly subscription credits are exhausted - no extra invoicing. If you have no wallet credits but have enabled 'extra usage' opt-in in your profile, the excess is billed at the end of the billing period at your plan's overage rate. The higher your plan, the lower the rate per extra minute.

Yes. You can buy prepaid credits at €0.02 per minute (excl. VAT). Pick any amount from €5 upwards. Credits are valid for 6 months and expire afterwards. No monthly commitment. A subscription is cheaper per minute for regular use — it pays off from about 450 minutes per month.

Your monthly subscription minutes first (they reset each month), then your prepaid wallet credits (valid 6 months). This way you never accidentally burn through your more expensive prepaid credits.

Yes. With Murmel Teams you buy a plan for a number of seats and invite colleagues by email address. Everyone works in their own account but draws from the same pool of minutes, so there is a single invoice and a single administrator.

The pool is the number of seats times the plan's monthly minutes. Twenty Creator seats give 20 x 40 hours per month between them. Sharing is the point: within an editorial or research team one person transcribes far more than another, and a per-person quota blocks exactly that heavy user while the team still has room. The pool is topped back up every month.

The plan price times the number of seats. Pay a full year up front in one payment and 20% comes off, which puts Basic at 86.40 euro per seat per year instead of 108 euro (excl. VAT).

As team administrator you enter their email addresses and they receive an invitation link. No Murmel account yet? One is created the moment they accept. A pending invitation holds the seat; only an accepted one occupies it, so withdrawing an invitation frees the seat again.

Extra seats can be bought at any time: you pay pro rata for the rest of the period and the pool grows straight away. Reducing seats takes effect at the next renewal, since the current period is already paid for. You can cancel up to the next charge, and the team keeps working until the paid period ends.

Yes. Get in touch with the number of seats and the plan you want, and the team will be set up with an invoice to follow. A data processing agreement (GDPR), help with a DPIA and a tailored SLA are all negotiable. That is the route most municipalities and research institutions take.
