From mp4 video to text
Mp4 is the universal video format: webinars, recorded lectures, on-camera interviews, phone videos. Murmel extracts the audio from the video and transcribes it like any audio file, with speaker labels and timecodes. And because the video sits next to the transcript in the Studio, you can export it back with subtitles, or cut a single fragment for social media.
How it works
- Upload your file. Drop your mp4 file into the Studio; conversion is never needed.
- Murmel transcribes. The text is ready within minutes, with speaker labels if you want them.
- Correct and export. Replay the audio next to the text, adjust where needed and export to Word, text or subtitles.
Dutch model, Dutch servers
Murmel runs on a model trained specifically for Dutch speech that makes fewer errors than open-source alternatives such as Whisper in a public benchmark. Processing happens on servers in the Netherlands, your file is automatically deleted after 7 days and is not used for AI training unless you explicitly opt in.
What does it cost?
Prepaid credits cost €1 per 50 minutes of audio (excl. VAT), available from €5 and valid for 6 months: a one-off file costs cents, no subscription. Transcribing regularly? Try 14 days for €0.01 first, then from €9 per month (excl. VAT), cancel monthly.
Frequently asked questions
Do I only get text, or subtitles too?
Both. Export the transcript as text or Word, as an SRT/VTT subtitle file, or as an mp4 with burned-in subtitles.
How long can the video be?
Videos of several hours are no problem. Note that uploading a large video file takes a moment; the transcription afterwards is done in minutes.
What does converting a mp4 file to text cost?
